Thoughts And Recollections Of A Tree Spirit

Whatever Happened to Jennifer?

All has gone quiet after the last message from Dom on the 1 Oct. However, my friend John kindly pointed out this classified ad which shows the following pictures demonstrating the first set of messages:

I hope no one minds me reproducing them here but I imagine eventually the original ad will be removed and it’s always nice to have pictures to illustrate a story. I have been a little lax with pictures lately.

John has obviously been doing a little bit of research and also pointed out that Sydney considered this story newsworthy as it appeared at www.news.com.au here. It doesn’t look as if we are any further to the truth but reading the comments, many people think it was an advertising scam. Nobody mentions the third day’s message and it doesn’t look as if we are any further to the truth.

So I guess here endeth the story of Jennifer…

Hmm, getting closer. I just read the entire thread at Chris’ link above and towards the end there’s this link: http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,,26150371-5013016,00.html which says a couple of local lads, Daniel Boocock and Sean Powderly, admitted they were bored and did it as a prank. This may explain why there have been similar occurances in other parts of the world, i.e. the idea was not original perhaps?

What is strange is that no one on these forums mentions the following two signages. And just cos these two lads said they did it isn’t proof in itself either. It says Sean Powderly is a part-time actor and DJ so he may have thought it would be good publicity to pretend he was responsible. Who knows?

What is definite is that the pictures were definately taken on Bilgola Bends, NSW, Australia cos I was there and I, along with half the population of Avalon, Whale Beach and Palmy saw it!

Googling my name late at night is awesome.

    Hey guys!

  6. Alex AUSTRALIA Mozilla Firefox Windows says:

Hey Daniel, are you the one that put the signs up or are you just another random Daniel Boocock?
If so, did you do the second and third set of signs as well? The world wants to know :-)

If he doesn’t answer I’ll send a couple of Welsh Rugby players around ! Hmm? Better wait until after the match though – they might still recover from the drubbing in Scotland on the weekend

We put up the first 5, that you see above, up. The other ones were done by other random people who wanted to be a part of the joke, I suppose.

That’s funny. It was a pretty cool joke and certainly made a good talking point for a while. I can’t believe it made it international too lol!
I’m also kinda glad it wasn’t real cos it would be a pretty shitty thing to do.

Thanks for posting here btw, that’s aweome! The mystery is solved :-)
